Alf formed LFA in 1977 and has been responsible for the direction, coordination and execution of major planning, architectural, urban design and landscape projects undertaken by the firm.

Alf has particular expertise in the design of sustainable, water-based residential and resort projects including Twin Waters, Shell Cove, Waterways and Waterside which have won industry awards for design and environmental excellence.

Recent projects include the Masterplan for the 75ha heritage listed Kenmore Hospital Complex in Goulburn, planning applications associated with Wagga Wagga, Kempsey Base Hospitals and the Chris O’Brien Cancer Unit at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, schematic design for a high tech innovation centre facility which facilitated a Federal Government Grant for University of Western Sydney together with masterplanning for a new housing at North Werrington.

Alf is a member of various design and planning review panels including the Rouse Hill Town Centre Design Review Panel and also acts as an expert witness.


SteveAnders With over 30 years’ experience, Steve is responsible for design quality and innovation in urban design, masterplanning and architectural projects.

Working at both the strategic and detailed design levels, Steve’s project work ranges from urban renewal, masterplanning, new communities and town centres/ main streets to the design of social housing, residential apartment complexes and individual houses.

He has been director in charge of a number of precinct masterplanning projects for Sydney’s Priority Growth Areas including East Leppington, Cudgegong Station (Area 20), Schofields and Marsden Park Industrial Precinct and has recently completed masterplanning for the Parramatta North Urban Transformation area in North Parramatta, Carter Street Urban Activation Precinct in Lidcombe. Social and private enterprise housing experience includes the Redfern East Social Housing Project together with Centric, Arc and Prominence Apartments at Victoria Park in Zetland.

Steve is involved in the formative project stages and works with project teams to ensure the design integrity of LFA’s output.


Carla MamarilCarla joined LFA as an Urban Designer in 2010. With over 12 years of professional urban design experience to date, she demonstrates particular strengths in urban renewal, greenfield precinct masterplanning, concept masterplanning, residential masterplanning and the preparation of urban design guidelines.

She is also closely involved in LFA’s planning projects, including State Significant Development / Infrastructure Applications, Review of Environmental Factors reports and preparation of planning advice.

Carla is also a skilled and qualified graphic designer who is actively involved in LFA’s visual communications, marketing and brand identity. She has brought to LFA GIS capabilities to more effectively translate design to technical data for our public and private clients and technical consultants.

In addition to her role at LFA, Carla is a Sessional Staff member at the University of New South Wales as a tutor for the Master of Urban Development and Design program.
