40 & 42 Lucretia Avenue, Longueville, NSW

LFA was engaged to design and document two detached family houses situated on a subdivided sloping site in Longueville, overlooking the Lane Cove River.

42 Lucretia Avenue faces the street and is known as the Magnolia House being designed as a series of linked pavilions around a mature tree specimen. Open living spaces are located on the first floor to gain water views.

The 40 Lucretia Avenue is accessed via a right of way and is known as Jacaranda House due the magnificent trees retained on site. The two storey house sits on the rocky escarpment opening to a pool terrace with open landscape and river views. The main living spaces are double height and are effectively shaded by verandah and detailed eave elements.

The houses share the external materials palette related to local landscape colours and have curved roofs expressed as pavilions.
