Gadigal & O’Dea Avenues, Victoria Park, NSW

Austcorp and Landcom

Green Square 2002 Design Award

Design and documentation of a mixed-use development for fifty-eight apartments, three, five storey townhouses plus retail street frontage.

Located on a landmark site adjacent to Woolwash Park on O’Dea Avenue, the building façade to Gadigal Avenue respects the subtle curve of the street.  Designed to the maximum building height of eight storeys, there is a partial ninth level expressed as a two storey penthouse adding emphasis to the north-west corner and defining the urban ‘gateway’ to Victoria Park.

ARC comprises high quality apartments – many planned as crossover apartments with access at alternate floors.  Careful design of apartments and exterior sun shading devices achieved a five-star energy rating – a first for an apartment building in Sydney.

Designed and documented in association with Tonkin Zulaikha Greer.
