 AURORA & OFFICER MASTERPLAN REVIEW

Location

Aurora and Officer, Victoria

Client

VicUrban (Places Victoria)

Description

The Aurora site (630 ha) is approximately 20km north of the Melbourne CBD comprising rural lands and has been identified for substantial new urban development.

LFA were retained by VicUrban to review the urban design for Division One Lands which led to an integrated cohesive plan with clear linear open space elements linking schools, centres and open space elements with an array of lot sizes and house types.

A detailed concept was prepared for the Northern Town Centre which created an east-west ‘main street’ retail environment linking the proposed rail corridor with a town park and school site to the west.

At Officer, VicUrban is committed to creating a sustainable new town which will demonstrate a new paradigm of urban development. The town will include a new urban form focused on a rail station, sustainable infrastructure and a green travel network to promote a strong local economy and healthy community.

LFA was engaged to review the proposed Concept Plan and, following analysis and feedback, to contribute to the development of a revised Concept Plan. Key tasks included the development of resilient, walkable and liveable neighbourhoods.
