Joynton Avenue, Zetland, Sydney

Landcom/Austcorp International

Design and Innovation Ideas Awards – South Sydney Development Corporation, 2000

Architectural design and documentation for 46 apartments and 16 terrace houses being the first development at Victoria Park.

Centric apartments are arranged in two linked groups of three to four storey buildings to the east and west of the site. These buildings define the key edges relating to Joynton Avenue and Grandstand Parade.  The distinctive curved glazed blue brick facade to the west embraces the heritage listed fig trees of Joynton Avenue.

Rows of two and three storey terrace houses face north and south with individual parking below buildings and private courtyards to the street frontage.

The apartments feature cross-flow ventilation resulting in enhanced thermal comfort, while the North facing townhouses have excellent orientation, privacy and views over Tote Park.

Designed and documented in association with Tonkin Zulaikha Greer.
