Redfern and Waterloo, NSW
Redfern Waterloo Authority
LFA was commissioned by the Redfern Waterloo Authority to undertake the Built Environment Plan (Stage 2) Study focusing on Department of Housing properties and the urban environment within the Redfern Waterloo Authority Operational Area.
The Area represents a significant opportunity to address the aging housing stock, allow new development to meet changed client characteristics and to integrate public housing projects and new private enterprise housing.
BEP (2) formed an integral part of a holistic approach to the renewal of public housing which includes improvements to the built environment, the public domain and social and community research to address the needs of existing and future residents.
BEP (2) recommended new building height and density planning controls for the delivery of over 1,500 new replacement social housing units and some 3,500 new private dwellings together with public domain improvements and new community facilities.
