October 2005 – Joint first prize – International Design Ideas Competition

Description

LFA were awarded joint first prize in the international design ideas competition for the 493ha Western Sydney Parklands (Bungarribee Precinct).

LFA’s winning scheme was based on the following ideas:

An ecologically driven, loose fit, evolving park form, expressing the cultural and landscape heritage of the place.

The restoration of Eastern and Bungarribee Creeks. Naturalistic creek beds & riparian corridors.

A Great Lawn to be the setting for Great Events.

Historic and Landscape interpretation of Bungarribee House.

New Parkland Interpretation Centre to celebrate Aboriginal and European history.

The Great Serpent Trail – Eastern Creek based experience of aboriginal cultural heritage.

The Great Viaduct, elevated viewing and promenade connecting riparian corridors under the Great Western Highway.
