The Waterfront at Shell Cove is a new 100ha coastal community located 17km south of Wollongong on the NSW South Coast. It is based on the Shell Cove Boat Harbour Precinct Concept Plan, which is the culmination of years of progressive master planning, urban design, and landscape master planning by LFA, working collaboratively with the clients and specialist consultants as well as engaging with key stakeholders.
The nucleus of the project is a new 270-berth marina / boat harbour that will be surrounded by development precincts offering a mix of commercial, residential, business and boat-related uses connected by new hierarchy of streets and series of public open spaces and wetlands.
The Concept Plan provides the overall framework for the detailed design and staged implementation of the Boat Harbour Precinct. Key elements include:
Our detailed concept design for the Town Centre focused on a traditional Main Street with a mixed-use core (comprising retail and commercial shopfronts, a large supermarket and outdoor dining areas), connected to the Boat Harbour via a public square.
The Concept Plan was approved in 2011 and was awarded the 2012 UDIA NSW Award for Excellence for Concept Design.
