Vision for Fairfield progressing closer to reality

Great to see Fairfield City Council’s vision for the LGA progressing to reality with LAHC’s recent announcement of the $112m Kamira Court, Villawood development and the public exhibition of the urban design studies and associated LEP changes for Fairfield City Centre.

LFA, together with CityPlan’s Helen Deegan and Sonny Embleton, were engaged back in 2017 by Council to undertake an Urban Design Study for Villawood, which has informed the rezoning and urban transformation of Villawood Town Centre. Our vision was to set an urban design framework to attract more investment, provide more housing, improving access and connectivity, and create opportunities for more generous and inclusive public domain.

In 2019, the LFA + City Plan collaborative was again engaged by Council to expand the work on Fairfield City Centre Key Sites to the entire City Centre. A consultative process provided us with important insights into the aspirations of both landowners and the community, which informed our urban design and planning work. The result is an urban design framework that seeks to balance development opportunities with community benefits, guiding future planning proposals and development applications to maximise on the unique characteristics, opportunities, amenity and vibrancy that Fairfield City Centre can offer.
